Privacy Policy

Effective date: June 9, 2026
App name: QR Scanner+
Package name: com.qyra.scanner
Developer: Jameel H.

QR Scanner+ ("the app," "we," "our," or "us") is a mobile application for scanning and generating QR codes and barcodes. This Privacy Policy explains what information the app processes, how that information is used, where it is stored, and which third-party services are involved. This policy reflects the behavior of the app as implemented in the current codebase (version 1.4.1).

Summary

QR Scanner+ lets you scan QR codes with your camera or from images you select, generate QR codes and barcodes from text you enter, save or share generated codes, optionally keep a local history, and take actions on scanned content (such as opening links or connecting to Wi-Fi). The app does not require account creation and does not sync your data to a user account or cloud storage operated by us. On Android, the app uses Firebase Analytics, Firebase Remote Config, and Google Mobile Ads (AdMob).

Information We Process

1. QR, Barcode, and User-Entered Content

When you scan a code or create one, the app processes the content on your device (plain text, URLs, Wi-Fi credentials, contact info, email/phone/SMS, payment and map links, barcode data, and clipboard text if you choose the Clipboard QR type). We do not upload the raw content of your scans or generated codes to our servers. Content is processed locally unless you explicitly share it.

2. Scan and Creation History

If Scan History is enabled (default), the app stores items locally in an on-device SQLite database (MyQr.db): the content, a timestamp, and whether the item was scanned or created. You can disable history or delete entries in Settings.

3. Clipboard Data

If you select the Clipboard QR type, the app reads plain-text clipboard content to prefill the input field. This happens only in that flow.

4. Images You Select

Images you choose may be processed to detect QR codes (Scan from Image) or to embed an optional logo (QR customization). Selected images are not uploaded to our servers.

5. Saved and Shared QR Images

Saving writes the image to your device gallery; sharing passes it through your system share sheet. We do not control what third-party apps do with shared content.

6. App Preferences

Dark mode, scan history, haptic feedback, and auto-save preferences are stored locally via SharedPreferences and are not transmitted to us.

7. URL Security Checks

For scanned URLs with an internet connection, the app may perform optional on-device DNS lookups and HTTPS/SSL validation to show security info. We do not receive these results on our servers.

8. App Usage and Analytics Data (Android only)

On Android, Firebase Analytics records events such as screen/tab views, scanner actions, scan success with result type and source (not raw text), generator type, output actions, result actions, settings changes, history actions, and ad-related events.

9. Remote Configuration Data (Android only)

On Android, Firebase Remote Config fetches configuration values from Google, including whether ads should be displayed.

10. Advertising Data

The app uses Google Mobile Ads (AdMob) to display banner, interstitial, and app-open ads when enabled by Remote Config. AdMob and its partners may collect device identifiers, advertising IDs, IP address, and app interactions per Google's policies. Ads can be turned off remotely via Remote Config.

11. Diagnostic and Technical Data

Firebase, AdMob, or Android services may process technical data (device model, OS version, app version, timestamps, IP address, diagnostics) under their own policies.

Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal data. We do not operate backend servers that receive your scan history or generated content. Limited technical, analytics, advertising, and configuration data may be processed by Google (Firebase and AdMob) on Android. Shared content goes only to apps you select.

Data Retention

On-device data remains until you delete entries, clear history, uninstall, or remove app data. Third-party data is retained per Google's and AdMob's policies and your settings.

Your Choices and Rights

You can disable scan history, clear history, turn off haptics, avoid the Clipboard or Scan-from-Image flows, decline camera permission, manage ads through your advertising ID settings, and limit analytics via device/Google controls. Depending on your location you may have additional rights regarding personal data.

Children's Privacy

QR Scanner+ is not directed at children under 13 (or the applicable age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

International Users

Firebase and AdMob are operated by Google and may process data in countries other than your own, including the United States, under Google's data processing terms.

Security

We rely on your device's operating system to protect locally stored data. Network communications with Firebase and AdMob use industry-standard protections. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy and will revise the effective date above. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised policy.
